All-On-4 Implants

WHAT IS ALL-ON-4 TREATMENT?

The ‘All-On-4’ solution is a revolutionary method of replacing an entire set of missing teeth using just four dental implants. All-On-4 Implants restore your upper or lower arches with our implants in under 48 hours. Our in-house team comprises of skilled surgeons, anaesthetists, prosthesis experts, and laboratory professionals who will ensure a seamless transformation of your smile.

All-on-4 refers to the replacement of ALL teeth ON FOUR dental implants, which support them. It is a modern technique where the back implants are placed to provide the required support for total rehabilitation. Since fewer implants are used by comparison to older methods, there is less in the way of achieving optimal results. It also allows for simpler long-term maintenance and uncomplicated cleaning.

What Are Dental Implants?

Dental implants are small titanium fixtures that are inserted into the jawbone and used to support a tooth or a ‘bridge’ of a segment of teeth. The fixtures form the foundation for the prosthetic replacement teeth. However, when we replace a full set of teeth, often referred to as ‘full arch rehabilitation’, whether in the upper or lower jaws or both, we do not place an implant under every tooth. All-On-4 only needs two implants in the front and two at the back to form the required foundation to support the prosthesis.

By using fewer dental implants to support the prosthesis, there is a smaller number of components, thus more versatility to design the most optimal function and aesthetics. Importantly there is also less in the way of cleaning, which helps simplify the hygiene and maintenance over time.

This procedure is the most common treatment in our clinic today for full arch rehabilitation, and is often suitable for all lower jaws and most uppers. But even in the of extremely poor quality or quantity of bone, at Port Melbourne Dental we can still offer reliable and streamlined immediate solutions using our implant treatments.

ALL-ON-4 PROCESS

The All-on-4 concept involves the immediate fitting of the prosthesis to the fixtures, also known as Immediate Loading. It sounds simple, and this is exactly what we aim for our patients to experience.  However, it’s not to be mistaken as being a simple procedure. It is a highly advanced surgical procedure that offers many advantages to traditional methods of teeth replacement. It also has remarkable success rates when performed by our experienced dentists with special training.

To facilitate the immediate replacement of teeth, there must also be a facility that can cater to immediate loading with a specially fitted operatory that is equipped for general anaesthetic or IV sedation, as well as an integrated dental implants laboratory.

AM I A CANDIDATE FOR ALL-ON-4 TREATMENT?

If you’re considering All-On-4 treatment, you likely have all or most of your teeth missing. Perhaps you have also tried dentures and have come to the conclusion that you want a more secure and comfortable solution.

With All-on-4 treatment, you simply need to have good oral health and no signs of gum disease or other dental conditions that could interfere with the placement of the implants! What’s more? You can still choose All-On-4 treatment, even if you have low bone density.

To determine if you’re eligible for the procedure, we recommend consulting with one of our qualified dentists for a more thorough assessment.

HOW DURABLE ARE ALL-ON-4 IMPLANTS?

Our All-on-4 implants are designed to be long-lasting and durable. With proper care and maintenance, including regular dental check-ups and a good oral hygiene routine, they can last a lifetime!

The titanium implants themselves are incredibly strong and integrate with your jawbone, becoming a permanent part of your mouth. The fixed set of teeth attached to these implants is generally made of high-quality materials like acrylic or porcelain, making them a reliable solution for full-arch replacement.

HOW DO I CARE FOR MY ALL-ON-4 IMPLANTS?

The great thing about implants is that maintenance is quite simple! It only takes a few extra minutes each day to ensure your smile is future-ready. Here’s what you should do:

  • Brush your teeth twice a day for two minutes using a soft-bristled toothbrush. Make sure to brush all the surfaces of your mouth to prevent plaque and tartar build-up.
  • Use an interdental brush to clean hard-to-reach areas like under your All-On-4 tooth bridge.
  • Floss your teeth using regular floss or a water flosser to remove trapped food particles between your teeth and gums.
  • Rinse using an antibacterial mouthwash or warm saltwater rinse.
  • Visit the dentist every 6 months for a regular check-up.
